Once in the morning, when I was on a vacation, I took my laptop and began reading and replying to emails. And noticed that mouse cursor was jumping and clicking around the screen because my palm was brushing touchpad while I was typing.. And text was going to wrong place. I had some time to think, because I was on a vacation...
And after
15 minutes I've got an
idea: why not disable touchpad clicks while I'm typing? Simple and clear.
Do you remember when it was? It was a vacation :) So without hesitation I've made a
prototype for this solution that solved my problem. This took
several hours.
But prototype was missing several goodies, like minimizing tray icon and fixing bugs. OK, no problem. After
one day of designing, programming and catching bugs I've got
program.
And after that I wanted to give this tool to other people.
One week and I've done installation, simple web site, and "About" dialog. Now it was a
product.
So creating the product took 5 times more than initial idea, prototyping and programming. But every time when I'm installing my
TouchFreeze on new laptop I don't regret for time spent on creating the product.
Idea and programming is very important, but creating product takes
much more time. After
TouchFreeze I had many chances to convince myself of this.
